SFF Global FinTech Awards

Emerging from a pandemic, the road to recovery

The SFF Global FinTech Awards, represent the industry's highest accolade for FinTech innovation. Based on the theme “Emerging from a pandemic, the road to recovery”. The Awards seek to recognise FinTech initiatives which have helped create new growth opportunities, transform industry practices and promoted financial inclusion amid challenging circumstances; as economies around the world look to recover and rebound from the impact of the pandemic.

The Awards, supported by PwC Singapore, brings together the FinTech Awards previously presented separately by MAS and SFA.

There are a total of 12 award categories and winners of the awards will be announced at SFF 2021. Entries can be submitted based on the following categories:

MAS

For corporates

  • Singapore FinTech (Singapore Founder)
  • ASEAN FinTech
  • Singapore Financial Institution
  • Global

SFA

For individuals

  • Top 10 FinTech Leaders
  • ASEAN FinTech Leaders
  • Women in FinTech
  • FinTech Leaders under 30

For corporates

  • FinTech Employer of the Year
  • Partners of FinTech
  • Social Impact Award
  • Knowledge Enterprise Award

Up to 12 winners will be selected under the four categories by MAS - Singapore FinTech (Singapore Founder), ASEAN FinTech, Singapore Financial Institution and Global - by an international panel comprising industry experts across multiple domains. All finalists will be evaluated based on four criteria: (i) impact; (ii) practicality; (iii) interoperability; and (iv) uniqueness and creativity.

Award Category Eligibility Criteria Prize
Singapore FinTech (Singapore Founder)
  • The term 'founder' is defined as an individual who was instrumental in setting up the SME. There is no need for majority share-ownership.
  • Company must be a Singapore-based SME with at least one founder who is a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident .
  • The SME must have a physical office registered in Singapore.
  • The solution must have been implemented/deployed in any part of the world in the past three years.
1st Place: S$150,000
2nd Place: S$100,000
3rd Place: S$50,000
ASEAN FinTech
  • ASEAN-based FinTech company i.e. a technology provider providing product/services to the financial sector.
  • The FinTech company’s core business must be related to the finance industry.
  • The FinTech company need not be regulated by any regulatory body.
  • The FinTech company must have a physical office registered in ASEAN.
  • The solution must have been implemented/deployed in at least one ASEAN country in the past three years.
1st Place: S$150,000
2nd Place: S$100,000
3rd Place: S$50,000
Singapore Financial Institution
  • Singapore-based Financial Institution of any size.
  • The Financial Institution must be a regulated entity in Singapore.
  • The Singapore office must have contributed to the implementation/deployment of the solution in at least one ASEAN country in the past three years
1st Place: S$150,000
2nd Place: S$100,000
3rd Place: S$50,000
Global
  • FinTech project implemented in any part of the world in the past three years.
1st Place: S$150,000
2nd Place: S$100,000
3rd Place: S$50,000

Winners will be selected under the eight award categories by SFA to recognise individuals and companies whose initiatives have contributed significantly to the FinTech ecosystem. Finalists will be evaluated on the criteria relevant to the respective categories.

FinTech Employer of the year
  • Company must be registered in Singapore.
  • Company must be providing a technology solution for the financial sector as their core business.
  • Emphasises HR policies that ensure staff well-being, fair remuneration and benefits.
  • Well-structured training roadmap and ample training and development opportunities to cater to employees’ needs for personal and career development.
  • Show proof of work-life programmes/ flexible work options such as job sharing, staggered time, telecommuting, leave schemes (marriage and family leave, unrecorded time off for family or personal matters etc).
  • Support and commitment towards a strong local workforce.

Partners of FinTech
  • Company must be based in Singapore or have a Singapore presence.
  • Significantly contributed to the Singapore FinTech Ecosystem.

  • Company must be a technology provider providing product/services to the financial sector.
  • Developed and deployed innovative FinTech services or solutions that were adopted by a significant number of businesses and/or end users, during the pandemic.
  • The FinTech services or solutions created significant impact on the way such businesses operated or greatly enhanced the quality of the lives of the end users, during the pandemic.
  • There should be sustained relevance of such FinTech digital services and/or solutions beyond the pandemic.

Knowledge Enterprise Award
  • Company must be registered in Singapore.
  • Company must be providing a technology solution for the financial sector as their core business.
  • Implemented good practices in knowledge and intellectual capital management.
  • Created opportunities for companies/organisations to learn from one another to enhance their practices.
  • Empowered employees or groomed Fintech talent through knowledge sharing to enhance personal employability and skill sets.
